Managerial Intelligence to Address “Wicked Problems”: The Case of Interdepartmental Commitees

In a context of increasing complexity, 21st century public administrations should be ready to respond not just with efficiency but also with intelligence. To reach such smart responses, traditional technocratic rationality should be complemented with a more innovative form of deliberative rationality. From this theoretical starting point, the article analyze six cross-sectoral commissions and try to find out its effective results in terms of dialogue among different administrative departments and capacity to generate intelligent responses to complex problems.Downloads
