Guidelines for Authors
INDICATIONS FOR EMPLOYEES
1. Gestión y Política Pública will consider for possible publication original and unpublished articles that are not submitted for publication simultaneously in another medium.
Contributions must be submitted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS). The text will be sent in Word or rtf format and the graphs, charts, figures and tables in the package that were created (Excel, Word, Stata, etc.).
2. The collaboration must conform to the following guidelines. Important: only articles that comply with all the points detailed in this section will be sent for ruling.
Only texts written in Spanish or English are accepted. The work must have a minimum length of 7,000 words and a maximum of 10,000 words (including the bibliography), to be delivered in Arial font with 12 point spacing and a half on letter-size paper.
Include, together with the submission of the work, the following information: title of the work (in Spanish and English), a summary of its content of 80 to 150 words (in Spanish and English, same content), 5 to 7 keywords ( in Spanish and English, the same number of words and the same meaning), name and nationality of the author, indicating the activity that is being carried out at the time of submitting the article for opinion, its affiliation institution, its ORCID identification number, as well such as full address, telephone, fax and email (in Spanish and English). Keywords should be selected according to the following indices: PAIS International Broad Topics Classification System; OECD Macrothesaurus; UNBIS, United Nations Bibliographic Information.
Brief biography of each author in Spanish and English, (between 100 and 150 words).
Put the bibliographical references, in APA style: between parentheses in the text as follows: (author, year, page).
The complete bibliography must be presented at the end, in alphabetical order and conform to the following scheme: a) For books: surname, name, year (in parentheses), title (in italics), city, publisher; b) For an article compiled in a book: surname, name, year (in parentheses), title (in quotation marks), the word in, name of the compiler, book title (in italics), city, publisher; c) For: magazines and newspapers: surname, name, year (in brackets), title (in quotation marks), the word in, name of the publication, volume, number, pages.
It is essential that each work mentioned in the bibliography has been cited within the article, otherwise it will not be considered as a source consulted by the authors.
All images, maps, tables, graphs or figures must be accompanied by their title and source or, where appropriate, the legend "Own Elaboration" Send the tables, diagrams, figures, and graphs in the package that were created (Word, Excel , Stata, etc.) If they were produced in Stata, they must be accompanied by a pdf generated directly from Stata. In case of using another program, please inform when delivering the article.
Suggest three to five academic experts on the subject, with their complete data: Name, affiliation, and area of expertise, and link to their personal page.
3. The opinion of the manuscript is anonymous and will be carried out by at least two of the members of the portfolio of referees specialized in the subject. The article will begin the review process once it has been verified that it meets the formal requirements, in the order in which they were received by the editor and the corresponding formal acknowledgment of receipt is sent to the authors. Before being sent for opinion, the manuscripts are reviewed by one of the editors to assess their relevance for the journal and decide if a particular manuscript should be sent for opinion or not. According to the evaluation of the experts, the article submitted for opinion may be: a) widely recommended for publication; b) recommended for publication only if its quality is improved in the indicated terms; c) recommended for publication but in a journal other than GyPP, or d) not recommended for publication (see: www.gestionypoliticapublica.cide.edu). The commitment of Management and Public Policy is to conclude the process in the shortest possible time, however the arbitration time will be subject to the workload of the specialists to whom the article has been assigned and the sending of the corresponding ruling. Recently this process can last from 5 to 8 months. Since the magazine is biannual, in case of acceptance of the article, it will generally be published the following year.
4. If the article is accepted, the authors must sign a rights assignment contract. The formal acceptance and the subsequent designation of the number in which the article will be published are conditioned to the sending of the rights assignment contract by the author(s), as well as to the fulfillment of any other legal, administrative or Any other nature that is requested from the author or authors.
5. In order to send their articles, authors are suggested to consider the sections that make up the magazine:
Management and Public Policy. It is made up of articles focused on theoretical approaches to problems of design, implementation or evaluation of policies, as well as their close relationship with the processes of state reform.
Management and Organization. It is aimed at establishing systematic approaches to organization theory, a discipline that constitutes a fundamental theoretical axis to understand the processes of change, the structure, the dynamics of decisions, the behavior and the culture of public organizations characterized by high complexity.
Regional and local management. Its purpose is to introduce the issue of government structures and state-society relations, which currently has received more attention at the municipal level of government and its decentralization processes.
Relevant experiences. It opens a place for the review and study of specific cases that yield concrete lessons of success or failure in the practice of managing public policies and organizations.
Positions and Ideas. It is a space for texts that seek to focus attention on current issues regarding the perspectives of public administration.
Case studies for teaching. These are works that deal with issues of public policy, government and public management but whose structure and narrative have the precise objective of being used by teachers as a teaching strategy and theoretical-practical tool in class. That is, they are works written with the idea that, through their discussion in the classroom, professors at the undergraduate or postgraduate level lead an exchange of ideas with their students, developing their analytical skills and critical thinking. In this way, the texts published in this section maintain a clear pedagogical value and are a tool that encourages active and not passive learning.
6. You are invited to send us proposals for our book reviews section to be considered by the editor of Management and Public Policy. We suggest that authors consider criteria such as the topicality of the reviewed book, the influence within the field of administration and public policies of the authors of the work, as well as the importance of dissemination and knowledge of the book among Hispanic American readers.
7. It is noted that the journal Gestión y Política Pública is referenced in the following national and international indexes and abstracts: Index of Scientific Mexican Journals of Excellence (Conacyt); Latin American Citations in Social Sciences and Humanities (class); Network of Scientific Journals of Latin America and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal (Redalyc); Thomson ISI (Social Sciences Citation Index); International Development Abstracts; csa Cambridge Scientific Abstracts; International Political Science Abstracts; Public Affairs Information Service (country); Manager Elsevier Geo Abstracts; Hispanic American Periodicals Index (hapi).
